Fine Art - Performance
I recently completed a Masters in Photography achieving a pass with distinction. These Fine Art gallery pages include some of my degree work which was exhibited at a graduation show in central London gallery 3 BEDFORDBURY,
'Performance' is a series of images about how we perform our identity. I’m interested in the extent to which the photograph can express the private aspects of ourselves that are hard to articulate such as loss, or a sense of being lost. These images of women in their twenties and thirties are intended to capture the sense of inertia we experience in the transitions between life-stages, the moments when are forced to reformulate our identities, caught between thought and action, between being and becoming. These three pieces draw their inspiration, in lighting and gesture, from the paintings of late 19th/early 20th century Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershoi.
